Old ways, New razor

A few years ago I began shaving with a double edged safety razor, replacing the cartridge system I had been using before.  I first got the idea when I saw a video from the Art of Manliness (lol) website titled 'How to shave like your Grandpa' or something similar.  Fed up with the ridiculous expense of cartridge razors, I decided to give it a try.  Since then I've been using the 'twist to open' aka 'butterfly' style of safety razor.  Lately however I had been becoming dissatisfied with the results - too many nicks, etc. - so I decided to give a three piece safety razor a try.  Knowing my propensity towards fumble-fingered-ness, I had been hesitant to try the three piece, but most of the shaving maniacs* out there love them.  So I ordered from the good people at Maggard razors the other day and got myself one of their own branded razors, the MR6.  Now, I've only used it once, but this thing feels like a surgeon's tool.  Very precise, and the stainless steel handle has a great grip and heft to it.  Shaving seemed almost too easy.  So, if you're interested in that style of shaving, I highly recommend Maggard Razors.  They also sell sample packs of shaving cream and razor blades so you can find what suits you easily.  No I'm not affiliated with Maggard in any way.

*There is a whole subculture on the internet, more of a cult really, dedicated to old-school wet shaving.
